I went to the range late in the afternoon on Sunday to test fire and zero the scope on a new rifle build in 7mm PRC. This was a project I started in December 2024 when I acquired a Defiance Machine anTi-X long action magnum bolt face receiver.
From there I pieced together the rifle acquiring the various parts including the barrel, stock, bottom metal, trigger, and muzzle brake.
I already had the scope sitting in a cabinet which just needed an appropriate set of scope rings.
To test and break-in the rifle, I acquired three different factory ammunition:
- Hornady Precision Hunter 7mm PRC 175gr ELD-X
- Hornady Outfitter 7mm PRC 160gr CX
- Federal Premium 7mm PRC 175gr ELD-X
- Defiance Machine anTi-X long action magnum bolt face in full nitride
- Proof Research Carbon Fiber .284 1:8 twist chambered in 7mm PRC AW2
- Manners Composite Stocks MCS-LRH
- Hawkins Precision M5 DBM Long Action CIP+
- Triggertech Rough Diamond Single-Stage trigger
- Area 419 Hellfire Match (.30cal) stainless
- Warne 34mm Medium Mountain Tech scope rings
- Leupold Optics Mark 4HD 6-24×52 M5C3 Side Focus FFP PR2-MIL
