On 18 January 2026 I attended the PRS Rimfire match held in Pala (CA) at a private range by the SoCal Long Range Club.
I was on-the-fence to attend this match because of my current medical issue. The nerve pain in my left side that flared up a few weeks ago still persists. I drove to the match with the expectation I might bail before the match starts if my body was not feeling well after zeroing, or bailing in the middle for a DNF (Did Not Finish) if my body pain was too much.
I was able to make it through and as the morning went on, my nerve pain was not aggravated too much causing me to wince or freeze up while walking.
Spoiler: I posted a very low score for this match. The wind was a bit tough to call, but the fact that I was taking a lot of care to move slowly and carefully to not aggravate my nerve pain and that I had not shot any sort of rifle in 7 weeks contributed to my sub-par performance.
This match was a club (not official points) PRS rimfire match with targets from around 70 yards out to 250+, yards with stages shot off various barricades. There was a very shifty wind during this match.
I used my 10/22 for this match because I wanted more time with the 10/22 before I wrote a build report and most importantly, it is a lighter rifle than my Vudoo rifles, which I was not feeling like trying to lift and maneuver given my body pains.
